When it's on, the light bounces through the acrylic and scatters a bit, giving off this soft glow that's warmer and more interesting than a plain bulb sitting under a shade.

Rechargeable, runs on batteries too

Takes 3 AAA batteries, though these aren't included in the box, so grab a set before it arrives if you want it running right away. Input voltage sits at 4.5V, which keeps the whole thing running cool and safe for something that's probably going to sit close to your bed most nights.
